Situated on the banks of the river Yamuna, the Baghpat district is one of the 75 districts in the state of Uttar Pradesh. The city of Baghpat is part of the National Capital Region (NCR). Before Baghpat district was formed, it was a tehsil that was a part of Meerut.

Baghpat is primarily an agrarian city, known for its sugar mills, and is a very productive region in terms of sugarcane production. It is at a convenient distance from the capital of the country and is only 52 km from the city of Meerut.

The region’s climate is pleasant and summer begins early here. Winters are mostly dry. Temperatures range from 2°C in winter to a maximum average of 46°C in summer.

Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited

Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (PVVNL) is a subsidiary of the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL). PVVNL is in charge of distribution and supply for Baghpat and 10 other districts.

UPPCL created in the year 2000, is responsible for the transmission, distribution, and supply of electricity to the entire state through its subsidiaries. The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) manages the electricity in the state.

Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam

The Uttar Pradesh Jal Nigam supplies water in Baghpat and most parts of the state. The water supply and sewage system is also maintained by the U.P. Jal Nigam. It also creates and manages schemes that improve water supply and sewage facilities.
