East Godavari is one of the municipal corporations located in north eastern part of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is assumed to be the second richest district district in the country. The district was formed in the early 1920s with Visakhapatnam in the north, Khammam on the north west and Bay of Bengal in the east and south. Two major regions in the district include Kakinada and Rajahmundry. East Godavari is known for the rice fields and known as rice bowl for Andhra Pradesh. It is also one of the most populous district of the state. East Godavari remains wet from June to October and southwest and northeast monsoon contribute to the rainfall.
