I hope Karnataka government also make such provisions for women.. It is definitely a good step towards women empowerment.. This seems to be unique, I haven't come across such news. Especially in rural areas, we have heard of cases where drunkards or gambling men lose everything to their bad habits and as a result the women and children are dragged to streets.. If property is in woman's name, there are chances that the property will not be misused..

Property registrations made in women names was higher in Raipur. According to the records more than 7100 women had purchased property in Raipur in their name and availed an exemption of Rs 7.57 crore. It stood first in availing the exemption given by the government as part of strengthening the power of woman in the family. ANd around 940 women registered properties in their names in Balod district which stood at last on the list and saved Rs 28.59 lakh.

It is a really good initiative of Chhattisgarh government. I appreciate whoever has given the idea. Usually very few men are ready to buy property in the name of their wives, mothers or daughters. But this simple idea has created wonders.. above 40,00 properties getting registered in women names is really a good result. I am sure the number would have increased by now.

Hi guys, many buyers have registered plot/house in the name of woman members in their families. As per the land records, by 31st December 2012, 40,309 land registrations have been made in the name of women, said government sources. This is definitely a good sign of progress in terms of empowerment of women. The new trend in the state is expected to grow even further.

Yes Dev, it is really a good plan to empower women in a state. Chhattisgarh government had announced that one percent stamp duty will be exempted for land or property registrations done in the name of women. A per cent less in the stamp duty of land registration can save a huge amount. So many families which bought properties recently have registered in woman member's name.
