Hey Balwinder ..1 marla is equal to 25 sq yd or 272.25 sq ft. If house tax is calculated for apartments or flats in Chandigarh, then a lump sum amount will be charged accordingly.

Hi Rajiv what if the calculation is done with Marla unit. I mean how many sq yds is one marla..? Also please tell me the calculation in sq ft too. And what is the proposed tax in case of apartments in Chandigarh..??

Hi Bulbul..they just proposed that owners having house more 125 sq yd will have to pay house tax at the rate of Rupees one per sq yd. This amount paid will be restricted to Rs 1000 in a year. The best part is that it is exempted for Low Income Group and Economically Weaker Section.
