The new PID will give a better picture of tax defaulters and will also help to locate the properties through GIS technology. The GIS based PID was launched on March 2, 2012 by former chief minister D V Sadananda Gowda, covering the whole BBMP jurisdiction area. The PID number is a combination of ward number, street number and plot number.
However, he said people can use their old PID for paying property tax. For new PID, customers need to have documents like Khata, survey number, address proof, among others. Once these documents are submitted to the local BBMP office, the BBMP officers will give the municipal number followed by PID to the customers.
BBMP Deputy Commissioner Revenue said that, there have been problems in validation and re-verification process of properties for which things are getting delayed. Moreover, due to elections knocking the door, most of the revenue officers and other BBMP officials have gone on poll duty.
Resident from HRBR Layout said that Palike promised them to issue the PIDs by February 2013 but till now they have not given the new PID number. Bangaloreans are confused whether they can still use the old PID for paying the property tax.
The Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) is planning issue new property identification number for 30,000 pending properties. According to the BBMP Revenue Department, the issuing of PIDs will be delayed because of the ongoing election process which is expected to be completed in end of May.
