Owing to the rapid development of areas outside CMA, the housing and urban development department has decided to integrate these developments with Chennai city.

The existing jurisdiction of CMA covers 1,189 sq km in Chennai, Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts. And now the jurisdiction of CMA will expand to 8,878 sq km

yes Kiran.. Minister of housing and urban development has announced the expansion of Chennai Metropolitan Area which will now also cover Arakkonam taluk in Vellore district and entire Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur districts.
