Panipat is a historic city located in Haryana. It is strategically placed with Chandigarh situated 169 kms to its north and Delhi located about 90 kms to its south.
Panipat draws its prominence from history. The battles fought here, in the years 1526, 1556, and 1761, are referred to as the three Battles of Panipat that were a major turning point in the Indian history.
Such is the historical or more precisely mythological importance of the city that the place Dharmakshetra referred to in the first verse of the Bhagavad Gita is possibly Panipat. In ancient mythology, it’s said that the Pandava brothers founded Panipat during the times of the Mahabharata. The city was supposedly called Panduprastha in those times.
Fast forward to today, and you notice that Panipat, while preserving its ancient culture and heritage, is marching ahead across sectors. It’s famously called the City of Weavers, because of the thriving handloom weaving industry. Its strategic location also attracts people who wish to work in the National Capital Region. This is inevitably resulting in infrastructure and real estate development in the city.

Panipat Infrastructure
Keeping its cultural and historical integrity intact, Panipat is marching ahead with rapid progress and urbanization. The Panipat government has launched several initiatives towards this end, such as setting up quality educational institutes and industrial parks. The city is already a petrochemical hub and continues to develop in that direction.
Sectors from 35 to 39 will emerge as The New Panipat, as a proposed railway overhead bridge will connect these sectors to NH-1, while major developers plan to undertake several modern residential projects.
The city is also ushering in the mall culture with open arms. Commercial real estate development is, thus, on the rise. The new integrated townships being developed in the city provide nothing short of the urban amenities typically available in Tier-1 cities.

e-Disha Ekal Sewa Kendra
So that the city’s, as well as the district’s, residents don’t struggle in availing the necessary services, the state government has designed a web-based application called e-Disha. The e-Disha Ekal Sewa Kendras are set up at all district headquarters in the state, including in Panipat. Now, the residents can walk up to any counter or location and avail the state services. The most important benefit of the e-Diksha Ekal Sewa Kendra is that corruption is eliminated and time-bound service delivery is assured. Most importantly, the residents will find the process extremely convenient.
