A bathroom classic will never go out of style and it is easy to see what kind of décor they match and if you want a modern look or something more classic according to the interior you choose. Though they might be expensive, bathtubs and sinks will increase the value of your home as well as will retain the value of your house.

  • Private vanity setup:

With a double vanity setup, two people can use the same bathroom without any disturbances as there will be ample space for both of them and their personal items. The important centerpiece, the mirror can be designed as you wish. It can be elegant or stylish as per your choice. This trend is important because it makes your vanity a primary focus and will provide the flexibility of how your items are placed in front of the mirror and sink.

An accent wall will never fail to provide a centralized look to your bathroom. You can highlight the bathtub or whatever to create a focal point for your vanity. An accent wall is a wall in your bathroom that is made from a different material and different color to contrast against the rest of your bathroom. Popular choices as per trend for this year are marble, brick, tiles, natural stone, wood, etc. you can choose the choice of your material and can paint it as per your choice and create the look accordingly.

  • Choices of bold colors:

All the conventional interior colors like lime green, black, white can be used and one should make sure to choose more saturated spaces to paint and create more warmth and depth look to your bathroom.

  • Heated floor technology:

A very common problem for everyone with going into the bathroom at night is stepping on the cold floors, and the heated floor technology has been around in countries like Rome. This trend is now increasing in popularity due to advances in electrical heating technology. Heated floors are of two types, hydronic and electric. Hydronic is a merely updated version of roman technology which requires installing the entire house with a floor heating system with rubber tubes that circulate the heat from your water heater. The other type is called electric, which is a thin panel that is installed under the floor and is controlled by your thermostat and timer.

  • Inclusion of modern light fixtures:

It is an easy and cheap way to upgrade your bathroom by installing a small sconce anywhere near the mirror. It can greatly change the mood and lighting in your space. You can add small chandeliers or hanging bulbs where they can greatly amp up the mood desired. •

    Adding plants:

A bathroom is an oppressive place and you can always give a green touch to make your washroom more appealing to make the area more vibrant and alive. You can actually grow many plants better in your bathroom due to the low light, warmth, and humidity that a typical bathroom has. So you can try adding some plants to your bathroom and add some air-purifying strength to your bathroom which can create a wonderful look for your washroom.

  •

    Sound system:

Music is always a good way of relaxation and reduces distress. Adding a few small speakers in your bathroom can create a calming and relaxing environment. There are waterproof speakers in the market for very affordable prices if you want to make your showers more relaxing.

  •

    Diverse tile textures:

A pretty common trend is diversifying your tile textures. Tile textures are those where you can create interesting patterns with your tiles that can feel more soothing to bare feet. You can also change the tiles in your shower or bath by giving your space a rustic feel depending on the colors you wish to incorporate.

  •

    Adding photo gallery:

It is a trend that not only can be done in your bathroom but also in your entire house. You can take a piece of art that you love and display it in the center of your bathroom. You can also paint on the wall of your bathroom.

While many of these trends are popular for seemingly good reasons, it’s by your standards that your bathroom should be designed. At the end of the day, it is always important to implement designs and styles that will make your bathroom more comfortable for you.

Simple ways to make your home pet friendly

pet friendlyPets are most lovable companions and many of us love to have them at home. Making space in your home for a pet comprises small changes and some negotiations on home décor to make sure that your home is pet-friendly and safe.

The following tips will teach you how to make your home pet-friendly and safe so that you both can live happily there.

There are therapeutic benefits of owning a pet. Nevertheless, owning a pet is also a commitment and a concern. Accordingly, homeowners should make sure that the house is safe and comfy for their pets. Things generally change when the pet is fully grown and you learn to adjust to its activities and needs.

Dos and Don’ts

Usually, wooden flooring is slippery. To avoid such kind of flooring as pets love to run around and wooden flooring may cause a serious wound. Vitrified tiles are a better option as compared to glossier flooring which scratches easily.

All staircases must be barred, to prevent small pets from falling down or trying to climb up, unattended.

All windows and balconies with wide grills must be interlocked so that puppies cannot go through them.

You need to avoid strong antiseptic floor cleaning agents for wiping the floor as pets tend to lick the floor and can consume it. Keeping a dog or a cat clean can be more hygienic for your home in the long term.

Regularly bathing and brushing the pet removes loose hair before it ends up falling on the floor or furniture.

For ease, allow a corner or a specific area to your pets. You can keep a small mattress in a basket in this place, where they can sit and sleep. Their playthings can be kept in that place, making it their very own personal space.

Pets like fishes and birds require less maintenance than dogs and are less messy. You can place a fish tank on a table that is specially made for holding it. A tank needs heaters, lights, and filters all of which require electricity, which means your tank has to be close to switchboard for connection.

Toilet training is another important characteristic when your pet is young. Choose a spot where you want your pet to relieve himself.

A hanging wire attracts a puppy to tug at it. So, make sure that all wires and cords are firmly taped up or it is out of your puppy’s reach, including long chords of curtains and blinds.

Store household chemicals in a locked cabinet and it is advisable to keep harmful items out of your pet’s reach.

Common household plants are venomous to dogs. Hence, keep plants like castor bean, lantana, jasmine, poinsettia, philodendron, etc., out of their reach.

Having a pet in an apartment can be a difficult task but not impossible. Most of the apartments in metro cities lack space and open areas. You cannot afford to stay in a congested apartment when you have a pet at home. Your pet needs more space to play around to make it comfortable.

It is difficult to find spacious apartments mainly in cities like Bangalore. But many builders are coming up with pet-friendly homes to attract home buyers

One such project is Arge Helios which is ideally located in the most developing areas in North Bangalore, the Hennur Road. This project is completely pet-friendly with 30% more spacious apartments.

Commonfloor Groups’ Smarter Communities Made a difference in BBMP Elections

We recently ran a ‘I have Voted’ selfie contest in Bangalore to encourage greater participation in the recently conducted BBMP elections and saw amazing response from the residents of a lot of communities. While the count of individual participation was high, the % voter turnout in smaller communities was much better.  Our Smart Communities leveraged the tools that we, at Commonfloor Groups provide, really well. Here are a few highlights:-

  • 2 Lac + SMSes were sent from Commonfloor Groups’ SMS platform during BBMP elections, across 10000+ active communities that are hosted on our platform.
  • Maximum voter turnout in certain communities was as high as 80%, much above compared to the average turn out of 50%
  • Many RWAs sent SMS reminders to residents every 4 hour through Commonfloor Groups’ integrated SMS platform, appealing to go out and vote.
  • Some Communities also leveraged online Notice feature provided by Commonfloor groups to post important information about election like Polling booths, checking name in voter list etc.
  • Some of the communities even ran a online Poll using Commonfloor Groups Poll module, to decide whom to vote together.
  • Few communities had election candidates visiting their premise for campaigning and they gather all residents by sending SMSes and online Events using Commonfloor Groups.

Overall, we are really glad that we could contribute to our vision of ‘Smart Community Living’ by helping residents choose for a ‘Smart Governance’.

Here’s a quote from Mr. Chandrasekaran Ganesh, Jt. Secretary, Royal Legend Apartment Association, Bangalore, that had a great turnout during election:-
