Here goes a little story on how a newly married couple manage immediate challenges quite smoothly with a little help from CommonFloor Group community tool.
A young couple, who recently tied the knot, is daunted by the thought of moving to a completely new metropolitan city, without any friend to rush up to during their lows.
But how do they sort the challenges thrown at them?
a) Tying their Seemingly Unconcerned Neighbors Together
Initially, they notice that people even within their tower don’t care to speak to or socialize with one another. They think organizing a housewarming party might work as an ice-breaker. But considering their apartment complex accommodates around 300 families, personally inviting everyone seems to be an uphill task. So, they Create an Event on CommonFloor Group and invite all community members, followed by a Notice post regarding the occasion. The turnout is more than they had expected.
b) Solving Some Neighbor-Issues they Were Facing
Although you try not to get into an argument with your neighbors, when their actions inconvenience your normal functioning, you are forced to take a step.
In their case, loud music has been disrupting a good night’s sleep and the good neighbors upstairs choose to hang their clothes on their balcony railing, which leads to dripping water dampening their balcony wall. This is a regular affair and needs attention. Hence, they Raise a Complaint about these issues on CommonFloor Group. Their issues are addressed shortly and resolved in a few days’ time.
c) Taking the First Step Towards Building/Setting up their Business
After thorough discussions with their family and friends, they decide to pursue their passion- books, but this time reselling old books.
They decide to start humbly and test the waters first. So, they initiate a CommonFloor Group Discussion to get inputs and organize their first book resale in the community’s Club House, which saves them considerable money and unnecessary hassle. Also, the response is great.
Their neighbours living two blocks away posted an Event on CommonFloor Group about a home clearance sale they were organizing before moving out. The couple attends this and buys the whole collection of ‘Lord of the Rings’ which they had been wanting to include.
d) This is Where Things Get Better
After a few months of hosting fun-filled community events and activities, residents come together and voice the need for a community library. A CommonFloor Group poll is created and based on results, Committee members decide to go ahead and set up a library.
After everybody agrees that they will be the best people to take up the responsibility,
Committee members request the couple to use their resources, take lead in the initiative to set up the library and also manage it.
Now a few months have passed and thankfully things are going smoothly. In case a resident does not return a borrowed book, a Complaint is lodged. The concerned person either soon returns the book or pays a penalty charge for losing/tampering with it. Also, their apartment community is livelier than ever and their own business is currently doing really well.
Though life seemed difficult at first, eventually things fall in place and CommonFloor Groups plays a pivotal role to make that happen.
