Recent progress in smart security and safety devices give consumers new and extended solutions to assist them to deal with the worry of securing their homes. There are few companies who have invested in smart lock technologies by creating smart, connected products and services that guarantee to make the home safer than ever.

Definition of Smart Lock:

A smart lock is a Wi-Fi or Bluetooth-enabled smart home device that allows users to lock and unlock a door by sending secure signals from a mobile application on their smartphone, computer, or tablet.

A Smart-Lock is an electromechanical lock which is designed to perform locking and unlocking services on a door when it gets such instructions from an authorised device using a wireless protocol, Bluetooth, and a cryptographic key to perform the authorization process. It also manages access and sends signals for the different roles it controls and some other important functions connected with the status of the device.

Components of Smart Lock:

Smart locks, like the traditional locks, require two main components to work i.e. the lock and the key. The key is not a physical key in the case of smart locks, but a smartphone which wirelessly operates the authentication process required to automatically unlock the door.

How to use Smart Lock?

Smart locks enable users to allow access to a 3rd party by means of a virtual key. This key can be sent to the receiver’s smartphone over standard messaging orders such as email or SMS. Once this key is received by the receiver will be able to unlock the smart lock during the time earlier defined by the sender.

Smart locks are authorized to give or deny entry remotely via a mobile app. Certain smart locks hold a built-in Wi-Fi connection that permits for monitoring features such as access notifications or cameras to show the person requesting access. Some smart locks highlight a camera, which stores a picture of those entering the door and makes for an effortless referenced photo log.

Types of Smart Locks:

Smart Locks comes in different shapes & modes, depending on the nature of the Door and the traditional lock fitted in.  For example, the traditional latch doors can be fitted with a simple Smart Latch Lock, Glass Doors can be fitted with Smart Magnetic Locks.

Since different doors & physical devices have different form factors, the smart locks also need to have different form factors based on the locks/devices. Though the smart locks required are different as per the device/lock, what is required from the usability perspective that all Smart Locks Open seamlessly from One App?

We plan to extend the features, by providing security solution at Club House, Gyms, Store Rooms and other restricted areas in the community.  Once these places are secured with the Smart Lock, users will have to use CommonFloor Groups App to open/close the locks.

Club House / Gym / Facilities

  • All residents will be able to use Open these facilities with the help of CF Groups App.
  • Restrictions can be placed on no-body being able to open these facilities beyond 12 AM in midnight etc.
  • Every time the facilities are opened/closed, it is logged into our system and Admin/Property Manager can track what time any resident entered the facility.

Store Rooms / Main Gate

  • These locks can be placed in Store Rooms,  Main gate, etc.. and the restricted number of people can only be given access to open the locks.
  • Every time the lock is opened / closed log is maintained in our system as to what time it was opened by which person.

Home Security

Residents can buy the Smart lock for their houses and set permissions for the locks such that only the members they approve can open the locks.

Old Features:

It is an easy way to manage visitor entry as all the information is recorded digitally.

It gives real-time notifications on the attendance details of domestic help and other staff members, the arrival of the school bus and daily vendors, among others.

Resident can also pre-approve Guests, post which code gets generated and Guests can check-in in the community using the code.

b. My Daily Help

Residents can now Add and set notifications for the ‘Daily Help’ visiting their house. They can also check the Attendance track record/history of his staff.

‘Daily Help’ addition functionality also lets them search all Daily Helps working in their community and call and check for availability.

c. Resident-to-Guard Messaging

Residents can now send messages to Guards at the Main gates in case they want to report anything urgent.  Guards can also send the message to Residents. Guard need not type the entire message, but pre-defined messages are already available for him.

Daily Helps / Staffs can now check-in in the community by giving a 6 digit code. This reduces the time taken for check-in and makes the process much more efficient.

Residents can also issue Gate pass to the ‘Daily Help’ in case they are giving any stuff to them. Guards can check the Gate pass before checking-out the Daily Help.

f. Move-in / Move-out Check-in

If the Resident is moving-in or moving-out of the community, the Admin can issue a Move-in / Move-our code to Residents which can be given to Movers & Packers basis which they can enter into the community. This feature is not available in any other visitor management applications. The Admin issues the code when NOC is obtained by the resident.

g. Water Tanker / Oil Tanker Check-in

For the Water Tanker and Diesel Tanker which enters the community, the Guard can check-in them along with the capacity of the tank. This helps the Admins / Property Manager keep a tab of the amount of Water / Diesel entering into the society and track it efficiently. Again, this feature is not available in other visitor management applications.

Apart from these things, the UI has been revamped for all other screens like Complaints Management, Payment & Dues etc.

Auto Reconciliation of PayU Money Payment Gateway Transactions

Commonfloor Groups team has released the new feature on the Accounting Module “Money Manager” Auto Reconciliation of PayU money Payment Gateway payments. This feature saves a lot of time of the Treasurer and or the Admin of the Apartment Association or Society Management Committee considerably.

The Challenge of Reconciliation:

Whenever a Resident is making payment online using the PayU Money payment gateway the Receipt is generated automatically and is mailed to the Resident, simultaneously the Receipt and the Amount gets reflected on the House Statement and the Default Bank Account of the Association or Society. Earlier such payment(s) reflecting on the default bank account of the Association was to be reconciled by the Treasurer or the Admin of the Apartment Association or Society manually as the PayU Money payment gateway make settlement or credit the Amounts into the Bank account of the Association or Society in bulk. The admins had to reconcile the bulk payments along with the Transaction report of PayU Money manually and were facing difficulty in finding the breakup of the Amount as well as the Flats or Houses which made such payments for a particular credit of bulk settlement of transaction amount. The manual reconciliation was time-consuming and was difficult to reconcile each of the PayU Money transactions on a daily or weekly or monthly basis.

How does it work?

As PayU Money payment gateway is integrated with the Commonfloor Groups Software the Product team of Commonfloor has enhanced the integration to fetch the Settlement data from PayU Money by an advanced automation process. Now the Commonfloor Portal can provide the Receipt No, Settlement date correctly along with the Amount for each of the Transactions and with the UTR No. for easy reconciliation and to get the breakup of the Amount plus the Flat or House No.

Secondly, such Transactions for which settlements are made are automatically get reconciled on the Bank Statement of the Association or Society’s portal of Commonfloor groups and a Green Colour Tick mark appears against such auto reconciled Transactions. Thus saving a lot of Time and Effort of the Treasurer and or the Management Committee member who voluntarily work for the common cause of the community.

Introducing Commonfloor Smart Guard Mobile App

Our mission at Commonfloor Groups is to find ways to integrate technology to apartment management. It is a problem that keeps us motivated and hungry to stretch limits. A few months back, we took upon a mission to eliminate entry/exit paper registers and replace them with a slick mobile app. Today, after months of effort and loads of feedback, we are pleased to announce the launch of Commonfloor Smart Guard – a mobile app that eliminates paper registers.

Here is a quick overview of how to use the Smart Guard App.

Step #1: Download the free mobile app from Google Play Store.

                                                                   

Step #2: Enter your city & community name. This is needed for us to uniquely identify which community’s visitor movement you want to track. Click on the Admin Icon to proceed.

Step #3: Enter admin username & password. This allows you to login and setup the app for your guard to use.

Step #4: Click on the “Get Started” button on the Home Page. The following screen allows you to send an SMS invite to your security guard.

                                                                      

Step #5: Click on the “Add Guard” button. The guard receives an SMS with his login details.

                                                                     

Voila! In 5 simple steps you are done. From this point the security guard can download the app or you can do it for him/her.

We’ve made it extremely simple to use Commonfloor Smart Guard, that even a security guard can use it easily. A guard simply has to enter the mobile number of the visitor and click on enter or exit.

If a visitor is coming in for the first time, then the security guard has to do a 1-time registration activity.
