The driving force that made Burari what it is today is its proximity to the commercial centers of New Delhi. The locality emerged as an affordable residential area with good connectivity to other important localities. Its proximity to NH 1 is another reason for its development.
Burari is also home to the only pilot construction and demolition recycling plant in Delhi, and this plant recycles close to 500 tonnes per day (TPD, clearing Delhi of its construction debris.

A flyover is planned at Burari Chowk that will ease traffic on National Highway 1. The authorities also plan to build a bridge over the Yamuna river, which will ease commuting between Delhi and UP.
HUDA plans to install three thousand LCD lights on the important roads on the area, solving the issue of unlit roads for commuters and pedestrians. There are many other improvements planned for the area, like better water supply, more efficient solid waste management, and better power supply.
