I heard that an official from the anti-encroachment cell of NMMC has confirmed that around 46 illegal structures have been identified in Belapur zone which is comparatively lesser than 2,664 illegal structures in Ghansoli ward of Navi Mumbai.
The official has also claimed that action will be taken against such structures by warning the public and also cutting off electricity and water connections.

According to a Right To Information Act query, Cidco has not given permission to use JCB machine or tree felling on Belapur Hill. However, with respect to the query based on development of the land, it comes under the domain of NMMC.
NMMC has confirmed that a strict action will be taken after the crash of Mumbra’s illegal building.

Many activists and locals have pleaded the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (Cidco) and Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) to take strict steps against the encroachers.
In March 2013, many residents of Kalpataru housing society in CBD came forward to save the trees and greenery being cut on the hill with the help of a JCB machine. The encroachers wanted to clear the land to erect illegal structures.

With the increasing environmental damage and encroachment on the Belapur Hill, the locals have demanded action against the same.
Belapur Hill located in CBD Sector 8B is a forest area which has been saved by the local residents many a times. Several attempts have been taken to save the green area. Chipko Movement was one of them to save the trees.
