According to sources, three roads chosen as the model road are Race Course Road (Government RC College to Shivananda Circle), Cubbon Road (Dickenson Road to Central Street) and Sankey Road (Raj Bhavan to Krishna Junction near Windsor Manor Bridge). It is said that all these stretches are between 1 km and 1.5 km.
Ofcourse, they will. at the same time the Cabinet gave its approval for establishing solid waste management units by Sateram Enterprises and Maltose Agri Products Private Limited near Bengaluru.
@Rajkumar, Make public this report, Law Minister told that the BBMP has been directed to invite tenders separately for each of the Assembly constituency under the scheme.
It is definitely a good step from just complaining about the alarming state of affairs. The pressure on BBMP needs to be kept high. They must know that somebody has close eyes on them and their progress will be diagnosed.
Good News!!! A nice decision taken by high court Chief Justice D H Waghela. But how soon BBMP will be able to develop the Model Road? What is the current status?
Hi all, My question is do you think that BBMP will develop the model road within the given period? How will they handle the street hawkers? Is there any other direction given by the High Court to BBMP?
Well Sukumar, I don't think that the task is so difficult for them. But they have to work in a proper manner and refer one officer for this and make it a practice. If such steps are taken, pollution, which is high in many congested areas of the city, will automatically be reduced.
The bench ordered BBMP to submit photographs of the work on the model road at the next hearing. Even the court asked the state government to submit year-wise data on cancer patients admitted to hospitals due to pollution.
Street hawkers can be removed as per the Karnataka Municipal Act.
Well Sukumar,
A model road should have proper footpaths without any encroachments, should have proper parking facilities, no pothole or open drainage, proper signals and zebra crossing. It should be free from the street hawkers.
It seems the model road should have have proper parking facilities, should have proper footpaths without any encroachments, no pothole or open drainage, proper signals and zebra crossing.
The bench was hearing a suo motu petition on the increasing air pollution levels in the city. BBMP counsel said that the civic body is taking measures to ensure that the roads are swept properly. But the court had given ultimatum to BBMP to list out the main roads and choose one to make it a model road.
