Q: Hi, I am very much interested in green living. I haven't seen any green office but I have heard that there are few in Delhi. I want more details about the pros and cons of green commercial buildings. If it's good I will plan to rent an office in Delhi which is developed on this kind of concept. Please guide me.
Latest Answer: There are few more green buildngs like the new building for ministry of environment and forests (MoEF) which is under construction, located at Jor Bagh.. It is being constructed in a way so that it gets both the GRIHA 5-star rating and the LEED India Platinum rating. Another one is located at Sector 62, Noida.. It is named- "Green Boulevard” , it looks like a modern office complex from outside, but once entered in, the temperature makes gradual shift. The building has 12 IT companies and houses about 5,000 employees.

Q: I believe in green living but am not sure about green homes. How to convert existing home to green home? Please advice.
Latest Answer: The simple way to covert your existing home to green home is by replacing all home appliance that consumes more electricity and replace all taps or fittings that consumes more water. Insulating your home, natural ventilation and lightings, landscaping and replacing with energy star appliance and water saving fixtures are other ways to convert existing home to green home.

Q: I have CFLs in my apartment. I have read somewhere that these produce some hazardous effects on environment. Kindly put your thoughts so that I can change my lighting system before it’s too late.
Latest Answer: Compact fluorescent lamp (CFL) thought to be energy saving light but the truth is something different. They pose danger to people’s health and add toxicity to environment. CFLs emit harmful levels of electromagnetic radiation. Switching from regular bulbs to CFLs will increase global energy consumption, not reduce it. They do not save energy. Please change your lighting system if possible or speak to concerned authorities.
