Q: When they are planning to acquire the land for the Metro rail Phase I extension?

Latest Answer: Hi there is some delay in Chennai metro as govt announced to launch metro in march but till now only 90% of the construction is completed. moreover contractor is saying that it will complete till march.

Latest Answer: @ lekshmi..Even the operation and maintenance work of metro in Delhi, Kolkata and Bangalore is carried out by themselves. While public-private partnership (PPP) model is implemented in Hyderabad and Mumbai successfully.

Q: Will CMRL talk with the defense authority in order to get land for the construction would end in success? Did the defense authority agreed to the proposal?

Latest Answer: Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) is in talks with defence authorities but there are some formalities that need to be completed in order to acquire or use defence land for Chennai Metro Rail. Acoording to source, Metro rail will need roughly 185 acres to construct two corridors. The discussion is going on with the defense authority to finalize the aspects.

Latest Answer: The main reason is that metro alignment goes underneath the residential areas so the CMRL is demanding the sealing of bore-wells and open-wells.
