Q: The Cabinet Committee of Economic Affairs decided to extend a one-time order for funds infusion by NHAI into such under-construction build, operate and transfer or BOT (toll) highway projects announced earlier to stranded BOT (annuity) projects also.
Latest Answer: Hi everybdy, The government has also launched an advance hybrid annuity structure, under which NHAI will fund 40% of the project costs, reducing the developers' risks further. With 11500 km of highway projects awarded since the start of last financial year, construction, which has picked up of late, is bound to speed up in the coming months.

Q: How will the new amendments to the model concession agreement affect highway projects?
Latest Answer: Earlier it is also observed that no penalties have been charged on the awarding authority in such cases. Almost half the projects awarded between 2011 and 2013 had to be terminated because of delays in land acquisition and other clearances.

Q: India is no doubt to award road projects worth Rs 60000 crore in the last quarter of the financial year to March.
Latest Answer: Of the orders being offered as EPC contracts by the National Highways Authority of India, 6-8 were to be bid out as BOT projects earlier but the government decided to award them as cash projects in view of the unwillingness of the developers to take up these projects.

Q: NCC Ltd, which recently ended a Rs. 600 crore rights issue and shorten its debt, expects to post strong performances in the 3rd and 4th quarters, helping it to grow revenues 10-15 % this financial year.
Latest Answer: They are awaiting Union Power Ministry indication to take back share in the power project. Once approval is received, they would be able to take back the stake and make about Rs. 470-500 cr. from the divestment. This amount would be utilized for equity in new projects.
