Overview : Once a suburban area that shared an important history of ‘santhe’, Krishnarajapuram, popularly known as ‘KR Puram,’ is now a bustling market that attracts people spanning across the city. Once a peaceful and naturally appealing locality with green patches, KR Puram is now a busy micro market that essentially caters to the affordable category despite having nodal position from the northern and eastern IT corridors. The locality lies in the heart of the city and connectivity is its major USP. Ramamurthy Nagar, Mahadevapura, Hoodi, Kadugodi, Whitefield, Marathahalli, and Kundalahalli are its neighbouring localities. Connectivity : Being situated on the Outer Ring Road (ORR), KR Puram shares excellent connectivity options with the other areas of the city. Direct connectivity to the Old Madras Road and the Whitefield road further enhances the accessibility to the area. KR Puram houses an important rail transit node catering as an important junction for inter-city trains along with local transit. It is one of the major BMTC bus transit node for commuters changing routes between Old Madras Road, Whitefield and Hebbal along with Marathahalli. The Kempegowda international airport is about 40 kms away. Factors for growth : Proposed Phase-II of Namma Metro will have an extension of the Purple Line passing through KR Puram to Kadugodi, further adding to the commute capacity of the area. Conceptual talks to widen the KR Puram road junction is likely to further propel growth in the area. Further, various construction projects along the ORR would streamline traffic flow through the junction. The establishment of offices of the IT/ITeS companies along the ORR connecting Marathahalli is likely to propel residential demand in the locality. Infrastructure Developments (Social & Physical) : Presence of rail transit node in-house has changed the fate of the area with multiple businesses relying on inter-city supply chain in the locality ranging from farmer markets to retail commerce. With the establishment of several residential options in the area, there is a spurt in the availability of eatery spots and restaurants around the region.
