Q: Is Hyderabad looking to develop Maheshwaram further by investing large sums in Electronic Manufacturing Clusters in this locality? How exactly will it benefit the city?
Maheshwaram is definitely going to face a lot of infrastructural advancements because of this project. It is estimated to attract an investment of Rs 800 crore and create direct employment for 14,000 people, as well as indirect employment for 84,000. There is also talk of a third EMC cluster at Paravada in Visakhapatnam in an area of 100 acreas which is being considered by the centre. With all this influx of more people, Maheshwaram will see a lot of changes in the years to come. There will be more housing options, better facilities, new civic projects and what not. I only hope that provisions will be made to all the residents of the locality and there won't be any unnecessary strains put on the locality's infrastructure. Real estate prices are sure to increase offering good returns to the investors.
This will also help reduce the state deficit, because the electronic import bill will be more than the oil import bill and this definitely put a strain on the government budget. But, with the proposed returns, the hardware cluster policy will go a long way to reduce the burden. The ecity is said to provide 263 acres for SEZs and 339 acres for non SEZs. About 2.1 lakh people are said to get employment because of this project. Much much needed! The project is looking to attract industrial companies in association with the electronic hardware sector based on the state electronic hardware policy which was announced last year. The state and central government are providing incentives for these investors to prick up their interests. But let's see how it goes..
Yes you're right. One of the e cities will be developed at fab city, but they plan on renaming fab city to e city in order to house the hardware firms on 600 acres of land. This is including 40% of special economic zone area (SEZ). Budget allocated for this by the government is about 23o crores but the total projects costs 580 crores. The Electronics Industries Association of Andhra Pradesh is willing to invest 1800 crores for more manufacturing units. All this can generate employment to roughly 35,000 people! According to the Andra Pradesh IT Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah, the electronic industry has registered a business worth 6500 crores in the city and 35000 crores nationally. Hopefully the project won't take forever and will be completed on time.
Hello :) The principle aim of the e cluster project is to build upon the electronic manufacturing hardware sectore in the city. The Andhra Pradesh government had decided that it was high time to expand on this and that is why 2 new e cities are going to come up in 2 locations in Hyd, of which Maheshwaram is one of them and I think the other one is in Fab city. The total investment for this project is close to 3550 crores, of which 940 crores will be contributed by the state and central government. The remaining funds are going to be paid by the private investors. The centre has also agreed to contribute 50% of the developmental cost. This is very good news as these developmental changes is what is required for the value of the city to increase.
