Polythene bags are a complete menace to environment through its whole life cycle. They block air and hence does not let your fruit and vegetables breathe. Then they dont burn and create lots of smoke. The unburnt Ploythene bags block sewage pipes too and create havoc like Mumbai floods. In the sea or in river also they block air to the plantations and animals.

In order to maximize the reuse/ recycle from the household garbage, it is advisable that garbage is segregated and then disposed into 3 categories , (1) Green/ Biodegradable- kitchen waste which can be reused as manure (2) Recyclable waste- Paper, Tin cans , bottles-which can be resold to the recycler and (3) Non Biodgradable/ Non recyclable- broken crockery, tubelights etc. which cannot be reclyed. Also, household batteries etc. must not be disposed in garbage and must be only given to battery
