I think vacation homes are good for only high-class people.. For those who aready have many houses can opt for buying for vacations..
If we consider investment basis, we can rent out to people as a holiday stay.. In tourist places there will be demand for such holiday homes..
It is risky and expensive to maintain holiday homes.. Whether you rent out or not, the house do require regular maintenance..
I do love to spend time in my own place during holidays.. especially in coastal areas.. but I agree it is expensive..
