Stamp Duty and Registration Charges in all StatesThe following article gives the stamp duty and property registration charges of all the states. Stamp duty and registration charges vary from state to state. Stamp duty charges and Registration fees in most of the states is given in the terms of percentage of the total value of transaction. The table given below can be used for the calculation of stamp duty and registration fees of any property conveyance. Conveyance deed can be a sale deed, gift deed, lease agreement, mortgage or any other type of transfer, However in some states sale deed is mentioned separately. Stamp duty also varies depending upon different criteria in each state.

From Rs 10,00,001- Rs 20,00,000 it is Rs. 10,000. From Rs 20,00,001- Rs 2500000 it is Rs. 12,500. Above Rs 25 Lacs it is Rs. 15,000.

    I always wonder why in Chennai Stamp duty is higher when comparing with neighboring cities like Bangalore & Hyderabad.
