For Faridabad hospital land use, SC has send notice to Harayana government

In Faridabad, for establishing a 450-bed super-specialty hospital, Land use has come under the scanner of the Supreme Court, which requires an explanation on a petition alleging that the five-acre of land on prime Delhi-Mathura highway was being used in contravention of the terms of the lease by Harayana government.

For seeking response within four weeks to the petition filed by social worker Krishan Lal Gera, a notice has been issued to the state government and Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) by a bench of Justices Ranjana Prakash Desai and Madan B Lokur.

Havells India, an electrical equipment company, along with QRG Enterprises, which is the promoter group of the Rs 7,200-crore worth company, are in a procedure to set up the hospital in Faridabad.

This hospital is being built with a venture of near about Rs 270 crore plans and will be recognised as Health City. It will be 140-bed multi-specialty hospital in Faridabad.

A Faridabad resident claimed in the Supreme court that the land which is being used here was earlier allotted to the Vivekanand Ashram Society for establishment of a residential school and a social development centre for Dalit students and is now worth Rs 250 crore.In 1978, it was allotted for a sum of about Rs 1.2 lakh and for the lease of 99 years.

As per the petition, although now the land has been taken for construction of a 450-bed multi-specialty hospital by Qimat Rai Gupta and his family members, owners of multinational companies namely Havells India Limited and QRG Central Hospital and Research Centre.

Through Vivek Gupta, an advocate has questioned the Punjab and Haryana High Court judgment of July 23 and December 18, 2013. The Punjab and Haryana High Court judgment of July 23 and December 18, 2013, the High Court had refused to interfere in the matter.
