I’m currently in the process of building my own home in Peelamedu, Coimbatore. How important is it to have a rainwater harvesting tank constructed? I’m thinking of cutting the cost as much as possible.
Latest Answer: You’re right. The corporation IS coming down hard on those who have decided to ignore this step. Even buildings that have been completed for several years now have to do this. I know in some cases the owners who were alerted to install this system, chose to ignore it. They were served a notice. I heard that the corporation served over 2700 notices to different buildings throughout the city. Whoever ignored those notices, the corporation remained true to their word and actually disconnected the water supply to all these buildings.
Q:
What are the updates from the Ukkadam sewage treatment plant? Any new interesting developments?
Latest Answer: Yeah, that’s what I’ve heard as well. Can you imagine what a great improvement in the Coimbatore atmosphere will be so much green cover. And not just improving the greenery in the city, this project is also going to recharge the ground water level. Don’t worry about the sewage water, its going to be treated over and over, before it is let into the ground. Otherwise there will be massive ground water pollution! I’m hearing that for the initial phases they are going to go with Malai Vembu, Kadambu and Arjuna trees. This would be a great industrial venture as well! I’m certainly quite hopeful about this endeavour.
