Property tax bills to be sent home for better collection
Property tax collection is the only one domain which has been lagging behing in recent times.
For this purpose, councillors of Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) have suggested to send the bills to every house like electricity and telephone bills.
Since the tax is not being paid regularly, the civic body has to face a heavy loss and which results in high list of defaulters.
Till now, property owners on their own will fill up the applications and pay the money at the MCD’s office.
The councillors have also suggested to keep a record of every household in the city by numbering them.
As per data, Delhi houses 30 lakh properties but MCD gains tax only from half of them.
