Delhi High Court objects construction on Delhi University plots
The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) and Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) have been asked by the Delhi High Court, to stop the construction of a multi-storied housing society near the University of Delhi.
The university had leased 3 hectares of land to DMRC for the construction of Vishwavidyalaya Metro Station and Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS). But the DMRC had allotted a portion of it to Young Builders Pvt. Ltd., for constructing a multi-storied residential group housing society.
This act of DMRC is in the violation of provisions and norms of the Master Plan Delhi-2021.
The university had approached the court, opposing DDA’s decision of allowing private construction on the land leased out for the metro station purpose.
