Project clearances in Chennai will be automated

As the builders are claiming that the delays in project clearances are raising the cost of projects, the Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority has planned to introduce an automated system to scrutinize building plans.

Scrutinizing building plan takes 3 to 5 days when done manually. While computers will run through the soft copy of the plans and point out irregularities, if any.

Initially plans of low-rise buildings in Chennai will be scrutinized by this computerized system.

The testing of the software was already done. It is found that the system can check site plan, elevation of the building, floor plan and even provision for sewage treatment plants.

Separate portals will be launched by the regulatory agencies to allow members of the public to access and submit applications for project approvals. The authority also planns to install the automated verification system in all regional offices of the DTCP.

The builders have welcomed the decision and have said that this process will improve the real estate scenario of Chennai. All the coming up projects in Chennai will be benefited by this computerization.
