Protest against land acquisition for setting up industries in Karnataka
The Karnataka government has planned to acquire one lakh acres of land to give it to the investors at the GIM.
The government has already included over 40,000 acres of acquired land to the land bank. But the protestors are stating that the government is acquiring surplus land using GIM as the pretext and turn it into real estate business sooner or later.
A number of protestors are protesting against the acquisition of agricultural land. They are suggesting acquiring the barren land for the purpose of setting up industries.
The protestors are claiming maximum amount as compensation when fertile land will be acquired. As many farmers have depended on such lands for their living hood.
Protestors in Maddur also submitted a letter with similar demands to Tahsildar, insisting that the acquired fertile lands should be returned to the farmers at the earliest.
