Unplanned sewage lines from apartment in Chennai
The Corporation of Chennai is trying to complete the storm water drain works. But the progress of the work is hampered by the unauthorized sewage lines running out of huge apartment complexes in Chennai.
According to the corporation, 25 percent of the construction work has been completed. The corporation is optimistic about 80 percent work completion before the monsoon.
According to an official unauthorized sewage lines are delaying the works. And there are many unauthorized sewage lines were found in North Chennai, especially in Pulianthope, Vysarpadi and Ganeshapuram.
Many residents don’t approach Metro water for laying a sewage line that can cost more than 7,000. They simply connect it to the storm water drain network.
Corporation sources also blamed the lack of coordination among various civic agencies for the delay.
