Bandipora turns into garbage dump
Bandipora, a north Kashmir town has been turned into a garbage dump with heaps of garbage present on the roadside in many wards including the main market.
Locals said that traders and municipality employees dump garbage and as a result foul smell emanates from the garbage which makes movement of pedestrians difficult.
Residents of ward No. 1,2,3,11,14 and 15 alleged that the employees of the Bandipora Municipal Committee collect garbage from the interiors of the town and dump it near Nag Masjid.
Residents said that even after complaining authorities did not take any action against the garbage disposal.
The garbage dump has become a health hazard for the people and it also attracts dogs, cattle, crows and vultures, which often attack and injure children and passerby, added residents.
As the temperature increases the problem get compounded, a shopkeeper said.
The residents have appealed Deputy Commissioner Bandipora and Executive Officer MCB to take strong note of the issue at an earliest.
