BBMP plans to take up more housing projects for EWS
The commissioner of Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), MK Shankarlinge Gowda, announced on Tuesday, that the authority is looking for more partnerships with realty developers in building houses for economically weaker sections (EWS) in the city.
During the interaction of BBMP with Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Association of India (CREDAI), Adarsh Developers M.D, BM Jayashankar, said that CREDAI is ready to do partnership with BBMP.
Gowda said that the project will be taken up in Public Private Partnership (PPP) basis.
The CREDAI members complained that they face problems while getting khata from the BBMP. They insisted that a single window system, where a khata can be obtained in 15 days, is very essential.
Gowda said that the builders can apply for khata through the Sakaal scheme and there would be no delay. Also with the implementation of the Urban Property Ownership Records (UPOR), kathas will be issued online too.
In the meeting, various other issues were also discussed including obtaining building licence, online plan sanction system (auto DCR), Occupancy certificates from BBMP, collection of improvement charges; rain water harvesting; solar energy and move towards construction of green buildings etc.
