BBMP strike enters second day
As the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) staff’s “indefinite strike” against the Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) entered the second day, the civil administration is compelled to stare at chaos.
Most of BBMP officials participated in the demonstration, as the civic body decided to boycott work until the criminal cases booked against its engineers by the BMTF were withdrawn.
As a result, general public were being hit as no building plan was approved, no khata was transferred or updated and no birth or death certificates issued in the city as all the BBMP zonal offices were closed.
The strike had little impact in areas where private contractors are responsible for garbage collection, particularly in commercial hubs like Brigade Road.
