BMC to display building names with OC on website
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation’s (BMC) website has been upgraded to display the names of all city buildings that have an occupational certificate (OC).
Recently more than one lakh flat owners of 6,000 buildings in the city of Mumbai have had to bear the brunt of the absence of an OC by paying double water charges.
The BMC officials are in the process to compile a comprehensive list of buildings that do not have an OC. The activists have welcomed the step taken by BMC. Although OC has been declared mandatory by authorities, often owners are given possession of the flat with the builder’s assurance that the OC will be provided soon.
