Developing affordable housing seems to gets boost in Hyderabad.
The master plan of Hyderabad makes a reservation for affordable housing projects comprising a minimum area of 4 hectares. Of all the group housing schemes which include apartments, row housing, cluster housing, mixed housing units and residential enclaves, 5 per cent is reserved to be developed for economically weaker section(EWS) housing.
Another 5 per cent is to be allotted to lower income group(LIG) housing.
The plan also provides a waiver of fees and other charges for affordable housing developments. 25 per cent is waived for LIG housing and 100 per cent for EWS housing. Provisions have also been made for Rajiv Swagruha, which is a project for 175,000 units across the city with the Andhra Pradesh Housing Board (APHB) providing housing to the urban poor at affordable rates.
