North Delhi Corporation proposes smart cards to pay property tax
In order to bring in more properties under the tax net and to have more clarity in identification of properties, the North Delhi Corporation has drafted a proposal for numbering properties.
In an innovative act, the corporation has proposed to issue smart cards based on the property number to facilitate easy payment of tax. The proposed card will be called Unique Property Identification Code (UPIC) card and it can be used to pay property tax, just as PAN cards being used in case of income tax.
The UPIC card will have a property identification number and other details of the property, and will be linked to the central data centre of the corporation.
