BMC orders probe into RWH discrepancy

No Comments Sub Category:Mumbai,Municipality Posted On: Oct 09, 2012

The BrihanMumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has ordered a probe into all occupation certificates (OC) issued by the civic body in the last 10 years against promised rainwater harvesting systems by builders.

The announcement of the enquiry came after several corporators alleged that officials of the civic building proposal department had handed out OCs to builders despite the latter not being installing any rainwater harvesting system.
BMC has appointed three officials to conduct an enquiry into how many buildings have come up without installing an RWH system despite promising one. The norms came into force back in 2002, when the BMC had made it mandatory for every building occupying a plot of more than 1,000 square metres to install an RWH system.
