The issue had been raised by Nagapura ward corporator S Harish who informed the council that two persons Mahadevappa and Yeshodhamma died on January 12, 2011 when a lorry carrying debris hit their moped. Apart from this, a survey has revealed that 10 of the 35 lakes in Mahadevapura zone have become dry while five that are listed in the BBMP’s website cannot be traced. Lakes are disappearing because builders are dumping soil and debris into them.

Nagarbhavi corporator K Umesh Shetty said, “Builders are not sparing even BDA land. Around 1,000 lorry loads of debris was dumped on properties for which there are no caretakers.”
