Widening of NH-24 to ease traffic
Noida- The recent development of the NH-24, is the widening of the left turn of the road leading towards Sector 63 by about nine meters in Noida.
This decision was taken by the authority as a large number of commuters travel from places like Hapur, Indirapuram and Vijay Nagar in Ghaziabad through the Model Town crossing along NH-24.
Due to the narrow road, there were constant traffic snarls at the Model Town crossing and the decision to widen the road will ease the traffic by February 15 as per the chief maintenance engineer, A K Goel, Noida Authority. This will further benefit about 50,000 daily commuters.
The traffic on peak hours on a daily basis on the NH-24 creates a lot of inconvenience causing tremendous strain for traffic from Indirapuram. The merge of the roads has been leading to a constant traffic jam on the 150m-long stretch from places like CISF cut and Model Town. This apparently blocks the commuters travelling from the free left turn at Sector 63 near the Model Town crossing to Noida.
The development of the highway will have an underpass along with the widening of NH-24. However, it is known that these plans will take some time to materialise but will eventually provide relief to the commuters.
According to Goel, they are yet to materialize the expansion plan of the highway and are trying their best to regulate the traffic at the packed stretches.
Not just this, the authority is also considering to widen additional left turns at all the busy junctions of the city like left turn at Khoda, near the Noida Stadium, from Metro Hospital towards Sector 10-11, the left turn for traffic from the Sector 12 area heading towards Sector 56, followed by the turn at the Indian Oil roundabout at Sector 2 leading towards Sector 15 Metro station.
Since all of these stretches witness a heavy traffic flow at all times, the authority will be taking further steps to regularize the traffic here and ease the travelling part.
