Namma metro makes successful test run

Bangalore metroAhead of trial runs of the train, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) is to start energizing the extra-high-voltage (EHV) and high-voltage (HV) installations along the stretch between Malleshwaram and Peenya.

A senior official of the BMRCL explained that the power supply would be incorporated for various installations along this stretch in a phased manner. This exercise is in connection with the testing of trains and commissioning of Reach-3 and 3-A of Phase 1 of Namma Metro project. This was the first test after charging the installation for Reach 3A.

It will take some time to energize the entire viaduct between Malleswaram and Peenya as the infrastructure between Jalahalli Cross and Dasarahalli is yet to come up. Other points at Metro train depot at Peenya, completed viaduct/bridge portions along Reach-3 passing via Peenya Industry area, Peenya Village, Yeshwanthpur, Sandal Soap Factory, Mahalakshmi Layout, West of Chord Road, Rajajinagar, Devaiah Park, Railway Parallel Road, Srirampura, Sampige Road will be energized soon.

The official said as the power installations were of the capacity ranging from 66 KV to 4,000 KV. Generally, there would not be any impact on the surface of the ground or surroundings whenever the sub-stations are commissioned or power cables are laid but to be on the safer side the public were told to stay away from the installations.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd successfully tested the green line train of the Namma Metro on the powered tracks in Peenya for a distance of 1.2 km. The line between Peenya and Sampige metro station in Malleswaram will be the first stretch on the Green Line, and it will cover 10.43 km and the second metro line in the city will soon be operational. The line between Peenya and Malleswaram is expected to be opened to public in July-August. BMRCL will start the trail and test run after the entire line of Reach 3 is energized which will take another two months approximately. Work on Reach-3 B is yet to be completed and charging on this line will take some more time.
