draftJaipur- The cabinet will soon re-visit the long pending bill initiated for the improvement of the state’s infrastructure. The Rajasthan Infrastructure Development Act (RIDA) draft which was revised  has now come to the final stages with the incorporation of the suggestions from the law department.

According to a higher official, they are ready with the final draft of the bill and that the government  is aiming to bring the Infrastructure Development Act.

However, there were few procedural delays which are cleared. They are hoping that the draft will be presented before the cabinet soon. This will further help in addressing the larger issues of the infrastructure sector in the state.

The drafting of RIDA aimed at developing the high quality infrastructure followed by a push by the cost intensive projects via public private partnership (PPP).

According to the bill, a complete framework on the developer’s operation and the government’s role in facilitating the system is mentioned. The drafting of the policy and the projects in water, healthcare, power and educational sectors was done by a consultant from Delhi.

The first draft being appointed in 2009 was ignored by the government. However, the bill was taken up in the year 2012 for which there were objections raised by the finance and law departments along with the renewal of contract with the consultant pushing it further into oblivion.

According to the senior officials, the draft is likely to be presented in the forthcoming budget session. There were certain points raised by the law department which are now solved. They also stated that they have completed the final draft and will send it to the law department for their approval. Once the draft is approved, it will be presented before the cabinet.
