Property acquisition for metro rail to speed up

trainHyderabad- With the introduction of metro in Hyderabad, the pace of the metro rail pier construction has been increased by the GHMC to fasten the acquisition process of more properties. The acquired land has three corridors running through it to make the vehicular movement easy.

With the fixed decision of the elevated metro line alignment, there were fresh land acquisition notices being issued for 47 more properties in areas like  Punjagutta-Nirankari Bhavan (Lakidikapul) road stretch along with other 79 properties on the Legislative Assembly-Gandhi Bhavan (Nampally) Road stretch.

According to a GHMC official, apart from acquiring the 126 new properties, they have also issued notices to 360 plus property owners on the Greenlands-Jubilee Hills road stretch. The official further stated that they are taking up the process of land acquisition, road widening and demolitions on priority basis based on the six-stage construction schedule introduced by the metro rail authorities.

A whooping amount of Rs. 234 crore has been disbursed by the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) Limited for the work with the project’s right of way on 100 ft roads followed by widening of 150-200 ft in  many sections.

More than 300 properties has been taken over by the municipal corporation for the mandated task, there are still more than 700 properties to be taken which includes the government lands, private properties and the government-vested municipal properties.

However, the road widening process along with the acquisition of properties and demolition of structures have been progressing in various phases all over the metro rail corridors of Punjagutta-Miyapur-L.B.Nagar. There will be about 350 properties taken over by the authorities.

The 350 properties to be taken over are present between Musheerabad-Kacheguda falling in lines were demolished followed by further demolitions of 72 properties on the Musheerabad-Chikkadpally stretch, nine of eighty-five properties at Chaderghat and nine properties at Erragadda.

There will be about 290 properties to face the crowbar for the widening of the 200 ft road from Bharatnagar to Kukatpally. In order to let the traffic prevail in a smooth manner the state government will be demolishing 700 properties and identifying 126 properties for acquisition and will prepare a six stage construction schedule. These infrastructural developments in the city are expected to cause a severe traffic hurdle.
