2 held in case of illegal building in Belapur
Three persons have been accused of forging documents and signatures to construct an illegal four-storey building in Belapur. A police complaint has been registered by town planning department of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC). Two brothers — Narayan Chavan (70) and Khimaji Chavan (62) – have been arrested by the CBD police for constructing the illegal building, and are on a look out for the third accused, builder Mahesh Kumbhare.
Jagdish Shelkar, CBD police informed that they carefully forged documents to make a fake rule card and map for a plot in the locality. He added, they made the documents look authentic by forging signatures of concerned civic officials.
After getting the commencement certificate by foul means, they quickly constructed four floors in sector 19 last year.
The illegality of the building was discovered after an RTI was filed by an activist, leading to the arrest of the brothers.
