Bonanza for Delhiites: DDA to provide 30000 low priced flats

Delhiites get a chance to own their dream house at cheaper rates as Delhi Development Authority (DDA) will soon start the construction of 30,000 cheaper flats.

Most of the flats will be constructed in Narela and the rest in Rohini. Under this intended project, DDA will build 25,000 LIG (Lower Income Group) flats and rest EWS (Economically weaker sections) flats.

Under this Rs 2000- crore project, 24,660 LIG flats and the rest EWS flats will be constructed and the costs of construction could be ascertained on the distribution of the tenders in March 2012, according to sources.

“A conference will be held before bidding where suggestion of the builders will be considered. Tenders will be allotted by March 2012. The builders will get a time of 36 weeks for the completion of all the flats, as mentioned by a DDA official.

As per the sources, DDA vice chairman G S Patnaik has asked the officers to promote the ‘Pre-Fab’ technology, so that people get houses at cheaper rates. Government also plans to demolish the houses located on the urban extension road for which, DDA has planned large scale projects for the construction of EWS flats for accommodating the displaced people.
