Govt to form company for Border road projects
The government is planning to come up with a company, National Highways Construction Company, for building roads in border areas and north eastern regions. A road ministry official informed that while NHAI (National Highways Authority of India) build roads all over the country, this company will focus on building roads in border areas and in the north eastern region of the country. NHAI mainly builds road projects on build, own and operate basis all over the country.
Initially, Rs 30 crore capital may be put into the company by the government. Of the country’s total road network of 33 lakh km, around 79,000 km are National Highways.
