The residents of the National Media Centre had approached NGT asking it to stop the construction, alleging that DLF and HUDA were encroaching on the green belt that actually belonged to them.

In a recent hearing, NGT bench headed by Jyothimani pointed out that that the road widening project does not affect the residents of surrounding areas.  He reminded that larger interests must prevail over individual interests.

The modification of HUDA sector road is being done by the authority and DLF. The 16 lane expressway is an 8.3-km signal-free corridor connecting NH-8 to Golf Course Road.

The state government informed the Supreme Court that as per the provisions of the Forest Conservation Act, 1980, the project road does not fall in the forest reserve area.

The NGT order informed that efforts are being made to transplant trees if it is viable and to plant minimum 10 trees for every tree cut. As per the new plan, just 26 trees need to be cut the NMC on the land which belongs to the government.

A DLF official says that they are focused towards maintaining a balance between the environment and development while executing the project. This project will provide solution for smooth traffic flow and reduce the traffic congestion in Gurgaon.
