Road Transport and Highways projects to get a new lease of life
All the eyes of the Road Transport and Highways Ministry are set on the Narendra Modi led new government. The road transport officials have already been instructed to jot down the hurdles and come up with an action plan to revive these stopped projects worth Rs. 1.5 Lakh crores. National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has approved Rs 6,000 crore for 9 of the 23 red-taped projects last Friday. A ministry official stated that in the last few years due to various regulatory and policy hurdles, absence of approvals, delays and other factors these projects were stalled, however now they have been instructed to fast track the infrastructure projects. It is speculated that fresh investments for the Infra projects will be announced soon by the new Govt. and funds will be raised from the public through Infrastructure bonds too.
