Industry experts recommend the land allocated for IT to be converted into a tourist hub

No Comments Sub Category:Realty News Posted On: Jun 11, 2014

IT industries will not pay high prices for land to set up their ventures in Goa as the land is given free of cost to the IT companies in other states to set up their campuses in their states. Industry experts and the IT industry in Goa have agreed with the government’s assessment that the IT Park should be shifted from Dona Paula.

However the Industry experts disagree with the government’s proposal that the Dona Paula land should be converted to real estate property. They are of the opinion that the land should either be converted into a tourist entertainment hub or into an education hub.

The industry experts feel sad that all the governments who ruled in Goa have never honored the commitments in the state’s IT policy. Even though the IT industry will be very beneficial for the state and will bring in a lot of revenue, they did not pay much heed to it in the past.

Nitin Kunkolienkar, vice president of the MAIT (an apex body representing the computer hardware, training and software industries) and past president of the Goa Chamber of Commerce and Industry agreed with the IT Minister and Goa’s deputy CM Francis D’Souza that the proposed IT hub should be moved out of Dona Paula.
