Study to be conducted by RITES on 2nd Mumbai Metro Line
A techno-economic feasibility study will be organized to study the changes of the second Metro line project by the PSU engineering consultancy on the orders of the Maharashtra Government.
According to the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, a new report with details is currently being prepared for the Dahisar-Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd. He said this while replying to an attention motion which was raised by the MLAS of Mumbai on Wednesday in the Assembly.
Chavan has mentioned that there are demands that the second line Metro should be established underground. However, there are a couple of changes which have the ability of delaying the project which has been scheduled by 5 years in the absence of different permissions.
The Metro Mumbai Metro Line One that connects Versova, Andheri in western suburbs to the eastern suburbs had been open to the public quite recently.
The Metro Two Line which had been planned originally to become 40 km long from the region of Colaba to Charkop. Colaba to Mahalaxmi here would be underground. However, the stretch which goes underground was extended in the plan up to the region of Bandra was changed to Charkop-Bandra-Mankhurd mostly because of the considerations of price.
