GOM constituted to formulate rules for land acquisition
The issue of land has slowly begun to assume importance, and may metamorphose into a hot topic in the present Indian scenario. The Telangana Government has appointed a Group of Ministers, which has Deputy Chief Minister T Rajaiah as its Chairman, to finalise the rules and regulations concerning aspects related to acquisition of land. The panel would then have to submit this report to the Government.
The Group of Ministers who have been assembled for this purpose include E Rajendar (Finance Minister), T Harish Rao (Irrigation Minister), K T Rama Rao (Minister of IT and Panchayat Raj) and Jogu Ramanna (Minister of Forests).
The Group of Ministers would engage in discussions pertaining to the fair compensation and transparency of the land acquisition process. They would then suggest measures to be taken by the new government to operationalise the new Act on land acquisition, as well as frame rules. This would speed up the process of land acquisition.
These rules would then enable the officials to get hold of land for public purposes. The Group of Ministers would be aided by officials from various departments such as Revenue, Agriculture and Registration, Rajiv Sharma (Chief Secretary to the State Government) said in a Government order.
