On Monday, a team of officials of the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) inspected the site of the high-rise Santosha Complex building before demolishing the deviations from the approved building map. Santosha Complex is located at Bandar Bagicha, off Fraser Road.

The PMC officials’ visit to the Santosha Complex building was in compliance with the orders of the Supreme Court (SC).

The court had appointed Justice S N Jha – former Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court – as the Court Commissioner; and an SC order had given the PMC a period of one week time, from July 9, to apprise Jha about the area/flats to be demolished.

In its July 9 order, the SC had given the PMC a period of 10 weeks for demolishing the deviations in the Santosha Complex. The court had also asserted that any failure to execute the demolition order will be viewed seriously.

In reference to the current situation with regard to the execution of the SC order, Avinash Kumar Singh – Executive Engineer, New Capital Circle (NCC), PMC – said that the measurement process has been completed by the PMC, and will be “submitted before July 16, the deadline.” Singh is one of the members of the team which will carry out the demolition of the deviations in the Santosha Complex.
