Delhi/NCR: Noida Authority to create 3D model of the city
The Noida Authority is apparently on its way to get Noida mapped in 3D. The creation of a 3D model of Noida will mark a ‘first’ for any Uttar Pradesh city.
The tenders for mapping of Noida in 3D were initiated in January 2014, and proposals were submitted by nine consultants. On Wednesday, July 23, detailed presentations of the ‘Noida 3D mapping’ project were made by the consultants; two of which have been shortlisted by the Noida Authority.
One of the two shortlisted consultants will be finalized for the project within the next 10 days; and, thereafter, financial bids for the project will be finalized. Once the project is finally initiated, the mapping of Noida in 3D will be completed within a period of six months.
Officials aware of the details of the project have revealed that the 3D model of Noida will be created by using digital mapping of surface as well as underground objects. Upon its completion, the 3D model will prove to be a very powerful tool for city planning, as well as for security purposes and curbing encroachments.
About the ‘Noida 3D mapping’ project, a senior Noida Authority official said: “The aim is to monitor growth and to visualize urban space in three dimensions. The 3D map will not only have information on every square inch of the city but also on what’s underground.”
